I’m Rachel Cray – and, if you haven’t been here before, welcome to my blog.
I write erotic romances – most of them contain characters who work in law firms. People who teach creative writing always seem to say one of two things:
(1) write what you know
(2) write what you’re passionate about … well, for nearly twelve years I used to be the head of administration of the London office of a major U.S. law firm, headquartered in New York City, and there wereplenty of incidents there that could merit a book or two. Names and other aspects have been changed to protect the innocent.
And I’m passionate about sex (well, who isn’t?) and erotic fiction is the ideal outlet – and Yes, just in case you were wondering, my husband and I are still sexually active (after nearly 41 years).
Most of my characters are in their 20s and maybe early 30s. But I’m not. I’m 62 later this year, and I feel as if I’ve been around a long time – even though I don’t usually feel my age. I’ve had a number of jobs over the years – we can talk about them some other time – and my two kids (one of each) are now in their late 30s and my two grandchildren (again, one of each) are in their mid-teens.
The major reason I’m running this blog is because I want to connect with my readers. I keep a close eye on what readers want in the marketplace, and I value your feedback. All emails and tweets receive my personal attention and are usually answered promptly.
